The motif on this ukiyo-e bandana is originating in the beloved art work “The Great Wave Off Kanagawa” by Katsushika Hokusai. Created in 1830, it shows a large wave about to crash down on the shore, with Mount Fuji visible in the background. The image is characterized by its use of strong diagonal lines and the contrasting colors of the white foam of the wave and the deep blue of the ocean.
